This is how Lance Armstrong describes his new Trek time trial bike. It's not a lot different to last year's bike - the handlebar positioning has been tweaked - but what makes the machine much more newsworthy, apart from the 1980 brakes, is the camera crews that now follow it everywhere. The OLN coverage has started and Armstrong used the TT bike to pacify the opposition in the time trial at the Tour of the Algarve, which finished at the weekend. The event GC winner was Armstrong's team-mate, Floyd Landis.

“This thing is freakin’ sick!”

Graham Watson pix of the new time trial bike and a coterie of Trek engineers can be found on Trek’s website, the official Lance Armstrong website and, of course, Watson’s own website.

The best bike close-ups are on lancearmstrong.com. Watch out for the retro brakes: Armstrong’s bike features Shimano AX centre-pull brakes from 1980, "a move that will no doubt send bike-tech enthusiasts stampeding to E-bay," reckons Procycling’s Kirsten Begg.
