UCI gives thumbs up to Yorkshire team

Team FLAB to join the pro peleton

(You probably guessed, but this story is one of a few April fools articles live on BikeBiz.com today.)

The UCI ahs today revealed that Team FLAB has qualified for the 2015 Tour de France, something that the rider’s themselves put down to a period of intense training and a strict nutrition plan.

In their best shape ever, the team smashed their 7.2km time trial record hitting 54km/h and are hoping to lead the race against the ProTeams throughout the world’s most famous road race. Competing against the best cyclists from around the globe, the entire team hails from West Yorkshire and will take on the mountainous regions of the French Alps in their own infamous style.

Guaranteed to be crowned Kings of t’Mountains, the team has been training throughout the long, dark winter and will be riding the annual race in their new collection of spring/summer jerseys, designed by Fat Lad At the Back. The team will be led by Fat Lad founder, Richard Bye and are already looking to design a yellow jersey in celebration of victory.

The Fat Lad team, pictured here wearing the Lads Rum’n Short Sleeve Jersey (new for 2015) will be supported on the road by the Fat Lasses, here seen showing off the Lasses Peachy Short Sleeved Jersey, and led by Lynn Bye. The Fat Lass team has already started their own supporting training programme including substantial quantities of energy-giving chocolate and wine.
