The interiors of DZR’s new line of Shift flat-pedal shoes have been decorated by three world-renowned street and tattoo artists, Burrito Breath, Wakako and D Young. Each artist has designed the interior of the shoes in order to "complement the exterior design of the new Shift silhouette," says a statement from DZR.
One of two female Japanese tattoo artist working in the United States, Wakako’s passion for bicycles led her to co-open a bike shop in Tokyo, Japan. Phil "Burrito Breath" Guy incorporates 60s and 70s weirdness in his logos, covers and iconic designs. His art can be found on skate decks, motorcycles, T-shirts and Heavy Metal posters. D Young is a San Francisco-based street artist working on a "series of multi media projects with an ongoing narrative of a social dystopia."
Design features of the Shift shoe include a stiffened midsole for power transfer while pedaling, a gum rubber outsole as well as a strategically placed directional tread. The toe portion of the sole is able to grip the ground and the mid foot is lowered for the best pedal grip, while the heal-tread sheds dirt and optimises traction, says DZR.
Additional features include custom chain link eyelet and hand stitch detail on heal cup, 12oz canvas, reflective heal badge, ventilation ports and a low profile design that fits seamlessly into toe straps.
