Long-awaited urban eight-speed coasterbrake hub soon to be available

SRAM G8 gearhub production begins

SRAM has announced that the gearhub that it has been working on for the last 22 months has now gone into production.

Dubbed the ‘G8’, the brand new eight-speed internal gear hub was sought after by my many OE manufacturers, though SRAM has initially turned away some business "to assure delivering on product promise and
quality."

The new SRAM G8 features even gear spacing, paired with fast, responsive shifts, through ‘Direct Shift’.

The guts of the G8 are safely contained and protected inside a sleek outer housing, making the system robust and maintenance free.

The Smart Coasterbrake Technology (SCT) ensures high safety when braking with faster and more sensitive response, and improved brake modulation thanks to reduced play.
