2008 financials reveal upsurge for manufacturer

Shimano sales rocket 11 per cent

Shimano has reported $2.59 billion in net sales for 2008 – marking a 11 per cent rise in sales.

According to Bicycle Retailer, net income for 2008 reached $277 million (25.15 billion yen), an impressive increase of 26.4 per cent over 2007’s figure.

Meanwhile, bicycle component sales reached $2.04 billion, or 185.99 billion yen, beating 2007 by $1.73 billion.

However, Shimano is predicting a downturn in 2009 figures, with a projection that net sales will fall 12.8 per cent, with net sales expected to drop to 205 billion yen in 2009.
