The Scottish Government has published a consultation document which proposes a ‘road tax’ on cyclists.
Despite the proposal of a similar tax to that paid by motorists, the draft Cycling Action Plan for Scotland actually aims to create a ten per cent increase in those travelling by bike on Sctoland’s roads.
According to Scotland on Sunday, the document suggests cycles may have to be registered with the local authority, which would then impose a charge.
Green Party leader Patrick Harvie told the paper: "If the SNP actually try to impose this absurd tax, then the non-payment campaign will be immediate and unstoppable."
