The £500 Pylon has been awarded one of the bike prizes in this year's Eurobike Awards. The show starts Thursday. Saracen is exhibiting in order to gain more European distributors.

Saracen street bike wins Eurobike gong

Saracen Cycles became Saracen Bikes in February after company directors Paul and Rick Stanforth put Saracen Cycles Ltd. into administration. The new company retained most of the original staff and work on the 2007 bikes.

The Pylon is an "urban street" bike shod with Schwalbe Big Apple tyres and with hydraulic discs front and rear. The bike features Sturmey Archer’s 8-speed XRK8 internal hub gear.

Saracen MD Paul Stanforth said the Eurobike award "has come at a good time for Saracen as we are exhibiting a selective range of our 2007 range at Friedrichshafen to attract more European distributors."

Earlier this year Saracen appointed Chris Wreghitt of Global Opportunities to spearhead its export initiative.

Wreghitt said: "We have had an excellent response and have already set up distributors in Portugal, Israel, Romania and Japan with strong interest in many other European Countries and particularly in Russia."

Eurobike 2006 opens on Thursday, August 31st and runs through to Sunday. Thursday to Saturday trade-only. 800+ exhibitors from around the world will be packed into eleven expo halls and in trade tents by a massive outdoor test track.
