Sanyo’s electric hybrid bike Eneloop and the development of a solar parking lot has seen the company pick up an ‘Eco-Products’ Award from Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry.
Sanyo, which will pick up the award for the third time, will be presented with it on December 10th at the Eco-Products awards 2009 at the Tokyo Big Sight Conference Tower.
The Eneloop won the prize for being an easy transportation device suitable for urban living while also promoting a low carbon lifestyle. The Eneloop features rechargeable technology and is capable of travelling up to 1.8 times further per charge, according to the blurb.
The Solar Parking Lot – which is currently being tested at the Tokushima Prefectural Government Office – incorporates solar panels and a storage battery system to charge electric hybrid bicycles without using fossil fuel.
