Rocky Mountain’s new e-mountain bike supposedly changes the game

Greenover Sports has revealed details of the new Rocky Mountain Altitude Powerplay, the Canadian brands first entry into the electric mountain bike category which, according to the brand, changes the concept of the e-mtb through the design of a new system.

The Altitude Powerplay is a fully integrated, electric-assist mountain bike with 150mm of travel. The new Powerplay drive system was designed in parallel with the frame, delivering ultrashort chainstays, optimised suspension kinematics and a super-low centre of gravity. According to Greenover Sports, the result is an e-MTB that actually rides like a mountain bike.

Greenover’s head of cycling Martin Murray commented: “The response to the Powerplay has been genuinely incredible. Rocky Mountain has gone out on its own to redefine the e-mtb category. Rather than take a traditional off the shelf system and design a frame around it, they flipped that approach on its head by designing their own electric drive system from the ground up to cater for the suspension and geometry needs of a proper mountain bike. This means that all the geometry and pivot points of the Altitude Powerplay are identical to the Altitude which means there’s no compromise at all in how the bike actually rides, whilst managing to make it look pretty cool too”

“We’ve had some incredible media reviews since the official launch in June with various sectors of the media from Bike Radar to Singletrack Magazine stating that this is the best e-mtb on the market right now. The first delivery of stock lands in the UK in September and has already sold out.”

Greenover is now taking pre-orders for the Autumn and is encouraging any IBD who is serious about electric mountain bikes to get in touch to find out more.
