BMX brand taken on following Olympic exposure

Reece Cycles snaps up FreeAgent

Reece Cycles has announced a distribution agreement with FreeAgent BMX.

The BMX race brand has been snapped up on the back of the exposure that BMX racing, and the brand, has recieved since the Olympics.

“Having been involved with BMX since 1983 and owning an original FA back in the 80s, I feel it’s an awesome opportunity for myself and Reece to re-establish the brand here in the UK. I am also very proud that FreeAgent will be the frame sponsor for the “Stay Strong”, UK BMX race team for 2009. The team has been created to increase awareness to the fund for Stephen Murray, who was tragically injured while competing,” said Jason Boness, product manager at Reece Cycles

Speaking on behalf of FreeAgent, world team manager Dale Holmes said: “Having the FreeAgent name back in the UK with Reece makes sense with the brand doing so well World wide. With the global expose of BMX Racing in the recent 2008 Beijing Olympics, alongside the success of the Free Agent Team in the last few years, plus the recent signing of the Olympic Champion Maris Strombergs, 2009 is going to be the year FreeAgent dominate.”
