Forklift driver killed by falling girder following forklift smash

Raleigh on trial over worker death

The BBC is reporting that Raleigh is set to go on trial over a death of one of its workers following an accident at its Eastwood plant.

Forklift driver John Whittington was airlifted to hospital shortly after the accident in which his forklift clipped a doorframe causing a girder and rubble to fall. Unfortunately the worker died shortly after arriving at hospital.

Raleigh denies failing to ensure proper health and safety assessments were made at its Eastwood site.

The case has been adjourned for legal submissions.
