At Interbike without a bike? Reserve one pronto for 24-mile desert ride

Quick, grab a bike for Tour of Lake Mead

Interbike, the Las Vegas trade show, has released details for the Tour of Lake Mead, formerly the Hangover Ride, a Tuesday September 25th morning road ride from Bootleg Canyon to Lake Mead and back.

The ride will start at 8:00 a.m. sharp from Bootleg Canyon, site of Interbike’s OutDoor Demo, and will be a 24-mile, out and back ride to Lake Mead National Park. Free shuttle buses will leave the Sands Expo Center at 7:00 a.m. Tour of Lake Mead participants will receive technical support from Mavic.

“What started four years ago as the impromptu Hangover Ride now has a more respectable name,” said Lance Camisasca, Interbike show director.

“We got a lot of flak over the old name and thought we might as well call it what it is, a tour of Lake Mead. It’s a fun, challenging ride and a great networking opportunity for show attendees.”

Attendees at Interbike without bikes should contact an OutDoor Demo exhibitor prior to the show to reserve a bike (the BikeBiz editor has bagged a Masi).

There will be a police-escorted rolling road closure for one short stretch of road near the beginning of the ride. Once in the park, the ride includes sixteen miles of beautiful rolling hills overlooking Lake Mead, said Camisasca, no mean roadie himself.
