Boots the Chemists PLC released its group interim third quarter results yesterday. Halfords, and Bikehut, did well. And this week sees the start of Phase Three in the Bikehut store conversion plan. 60 more stores are being revamped.

Q3 sales at Halfords were up; Bikehut shines

Halfords Q3 sales were ahead by 5.6 per cent and by 3.7 per cent on a like-for-like basis. However, Bikehuts – the IBD-apeing ‘arcade’ format stores – did best of all.

The Bikehuts created in the last 12 months (Bikehut Phase Two stores) have performed the best: their Q3 results showed an 18 percent sales increase.

Sales in stores from the Phase One programme, which have now been open for more than 12 months, were up by 9 percent.
