Polartec extend its partnership with the Contador Foundation Team

Polartec, the US manufacturer of technical fabrics, is extending its sponsorship of Alberto Contador’s development team. Having been a co-sponsor of the U23 and junior Contador Foundation team tor one season, Polartec is committing itself until 2018 and is becoming the team’s main sponsor.

The new kit was presented earlier today by Contador at a launch event in Madrid.

Polartec embarked on a development strategy in the cycling clothing and accessories market four years ago. It makes fabrics used by Rapha, Castelli, Sportfull, rh+, and Giro, and others.

Polartec CEO Gary Smith said: "We are delighted to extend our partnership with Alberto Contador and the cycling team he founded, managed by his brother, Francisco. Polartec and the Contador Foundation share the same values of performance, innovation and about the future of cycling.

"For us, this team is a showcase, but also a laboratory for testing and validating our latest textile innovations. High-level competition is the best test bench for performance. In 2017, 100 percent of the garments in the Polartec Contador Foundation team’s kit was made using our technical fabrics. For races under extreme heat, but also colder and rainy races, our technical fabrics are designed to protect and support riders’ performance. Our goal is to become the textile leader in cycling."
