Richard Bird of PCL Distribution of Hunstanton, Norfolk – and grandfather to triplets – said he could see the family potential for Family Bikes as soon as he saw them.
He, and grandmother to triplets Elaine Bird, first viewed Family Bikes at last year’s Milan show, and will be bringing in the full range of accessories that clip on to the Family Bike’s attaching points. There’s a parent-facing baby seat, a front-facing headtube mounted childseat, rear-rack child seat, rucksacks, and a variety of headtube-mounting baskets and parcel racks.
There’s even a child-seat with pedals with a chain linking to a specially-adapted front wheel so children too young for a trailerbike can feel as though they are contributing to forward motion.
A Family Bike with two childseats will cost £430 at retail. Mudguards, a dynamo and stand all come as standard. The 24 inch wheels allow for easy step-over.
PCL Distribution is seeking 250 IBD accounts.
The company is importing the Enduro model, in silver only. Availability is as of now, with the ‘pedalling childseat’ available next month.
