Firm to focus on core frame design business, though will remain service centre

Pace ceases DT Swiss distribution

Pace Cycles has annonced it is to cease distribution of DT Swiss products with immediate effect.

In addition to its core frame design business, Pace also became the official distributor for DT Swiss suspension products and other parts after DT Swiss purchased its Pace’s suspension fork designs, technlogy and manufacturing rights back in 2006.

"It’s time to focus the Pace business on our new mountain bike frame models, particularly after the successful launch of our extended 2010 range at the Cycle Show," said MD Adrian Carter.

"We have invested a lot into the establishment of DT as a leading suspension brand and are proud of the elevated profile DT Swiss now has in the UK. The challenge for us, however, has been to convince the market that the product’s high cost and limited availability is worth the investment."

The introduction of new technology into the product hasn’t stimulated trade orders to the levels we were expecting. Pace has also not been supplied workign samples and delivery dates for the current lines, which has become frustrating.

"On the other hand, we’ve already sold out the first production run of the new Pace RC104 frame and demand remains high."

Pace is to remain a service centre for Pace, DT and Scott suspension product.
