Grand opening for Ride this Monday

Newcastle’s largest IBD launches next week

Ride – a new cycle retailer based in Newcastle upon Tyne – has opened its doors to the public prior to its grand opening this Monday February 22nd.

Ride will reportedly be the city’s largest independent cycle store, stocking bikes, accessories, parts and clothing as well as offering full workshop facilities for servicing, building wheels, or building new bikes from scratch.

Ride occupies the space Denton Cycles previously held, under new ownership and with a wide ranging selection of stock.

Retail manager Tim Binks told BikeBiz: “We are currently Newcastle’s only city centre cycle retailer as well as being the largest independent bike shop in the north east – currently only by size, but we have big aims for the business!

“We are located in the premises of a previous shop – Denton Cycles – that was a big part of the city’s cycling scene for around 50 years. However, this unfortunately closed in summer 2009, leaving a gap which we have filled for the city’s cyclists.”

On Scotswood Road, the shop’s grand opening will include a talk from UK endurance mountain bike racer Paul Errington, expert advice, refreshments, nibbles and an introductory discount.

To contact the shop call 0191 272 3386 or email sales@ridecycles.co.uk.
