New event Cycle Southampton reaches out to local companies

Cycle Southampton is a brand-new two-day cycling event coming to the city in September. The weekend consists of two events: the one-mile Criterium loop of the city centre on September 9th and the longer Sportive event on the 10th.

As part of the weekend a corporate challenge will take place, pitting local businesses against one another to see who is the fastest in the saddle. 3 Men² is one of the first companies to sign up and its team members are already training for the event.

Creative director Simon Heron said: “Over many years, 3 Men² have both encouraged and supported staff who want to cycle – we think a healthy body leads to a health mind. This includes any level of cycling from the fair weathered plodders to hardcore club riders. For those more committed cyclists out there, take a quick look on the Strava App and you will see 3 Men crew members, both past and present, flying high in the Southampton results. We take great pride in this.”

Cycle Southampton organiser Chris Rees added: “Businesses in Southampton are switched on to the benefits that cycling can bring their employees. We’re delighted that 3 Men² is among them and getting involved in the Corporate Challenge this year. Having joined them for one of their training sessions they’re certainly going to set the pace for any contenders!”

As well as the Criterium and Sportive, Cycle Southampton will feature a race village in Southampton’s parks, featuring everything from stabiliser training sessions for children to trade stands from top bike manufacturers.
