58 year old Creator Lili Millar created the brand as a female specific clothing option

New company Bike Nicks aims to get more women into cycling

Bike Nicks is the brainchild of Lili Millar – a yoga teacher and keen cyclist who became increasingly frustrated by the inadequate protection offered by ill fitting female cycling shorts.

She felt that cycling clothing companies were making a male products pink without taking into consideration what female cyclists need. Taking inspiration from high end lingerie, Lilli created these knickers with the view of getting more women cycling as their main mode of transport, and making sure they are comfy and stylish as they do it.

Lili has entered Bike Nicks into Virgin Media Business’s VOOM 2016 competition and is looking for support in the public voting stages. If Bike Nicks makes it into the top eighty entrants, Lili will have the chance to pitch to Richard Branson and win a share of £1,000,000.

Millar said: "I was getting increasingly frustrated at cycling clothing for women. Often they just make a male product pink without taking into consideration what female cyclists need. I found ladies’ gear was usually ill fitting and didn’t provide adequate protection. For Bike Nicks we took inspiration from high-end lingerie and made the nicks with women in mind.”
