Krien Dawson, part of the sales team at Mud Dock in Bristol, is leaving to set up his own MTB tours and demo company. With a bike trade background (he worked for B-line of Oxford before Mud Dock), hes big into offering his services to IBDs

Mud Docker sets up tour biz

A mail shot from Dawsons Trail Tours will be going out to 250 IBDs next week. Initially targetting shops in the south and south west, Dawson says IBDs can use his company to strengthen relationships with new and existing customers. His weekend tours and demo days are suitable for beginners and hes also offering weekends at Coed y Brenin for the more accomplished rider.

Dawson, 22, is still employed at Mud Dock he works on cycle sales, warranty and events but is leaving in May with Trail Tours launching in June. Mud Dock will be one of his first customers, using Trail Tours for some of the shops guided rides. Dawson has been organising the Mud Dock rides for two years and is keen to get more IBDs to offer shop-linked rides and weekends away:

Its an added value thing for customers and another way for a shop to make a statement about how they offer services for their customers that the big corporate retailers dont.

Dawson anticipates that IBDs will either sell his courses direct and take a cut or they could pay, or part pay, on behalf of their customers as a sales incentive.

www.trailtours.net will have more info and will be live by the end of next week.
