Muc-Off will be working with British Cycling in a partnership that will see the British bike care brand treat and supply all bike chains for the Great Britain Cycling Team.
As part of the partnership with the governing body for cycle sport in Great Britain, Muc-Off will supply over 75 chains to athletes including the likes of Sir Bradley Wiggins, Mark Cavendish, Laura Trott and Liam Phillips to name but a few.
The unique hand treatment process that each chain goes through at the Muc-Off head office in Dorset will reduce friction with a power saving of up to six watts over conventional lubricants. Each chain is painstakingly speed graded and run-in under load during which data is taken to assist in optimisation.
Next the chains are sonic cleaned in several formulas and hand treated with the nanotube formula followed with the application of nanotube particles. Following this lengthy process, the chains are finally ready for track, BMX, road or mountain bike competition. As races can be won on small margins, Muc-Off more than anyone know the importance of fully optimised performance to give an edge over the competition.
Since its conception in 1994 and driven by its CEO, Alex Trimnell, Muc-Off’s passion for all things on wheels coupled with a relentless pursuit for perfection has led to continual breakthroughs in innovative bike care solutions, thanks to an intensive and ongoing R & D programme.
Alex Trimnell commented: “We’re always looking for new ways to optimise performance using cutting-edge innovations. Working so closely with the British Cycling technical team at the highest level of international sport is a huge project for us and an absolute privilege to be a part of. We owe our success to all the hard work carried out by the dedicated enthusiasts on the Muc-Off team who constantly push the status quo to keep us ahead of the curve. The relationship is proving so effective and beneficial that we’re already looking past Rio to Tokyo 2020 with further exciting developments in the pipeline.”
British Cycling’s Commercial and Technical Manager, Dave Parsons, said: “We’ve been working closely with Muc-Off to ensure that the chains used by the Great Britain Cycling Team are of the highest possible standard, and obviously lubrication plays a huge role in this. This is why we have entrusted Muc-Off to deliver highly optimised chains as well as faultless service to the team.”
