Third annual London to Paris bike ride organised

Medecins du monde call for charity riders

Natural disaster charity, Medecins du monde UK, is calling for riders to sign up to its third annual London to Paris Bike Ride 2008. The three day challenge covers almost 300 kilometres of hilly, stunning terrain between the two countries.

As well as sending volunteers overseas to provide medical care to vulnerable people who are effected by natural disasters (recent earthquake in Peru), conflict (emergency mission sent to Iraq) and extreme poverty (HIV/AIDS prevent amongst the slum dwellers in Cambodia) – both offices run healthcare projects in their capital cities for marginalised populations who cannot access mainstream healthcare services.

The ride will set off from London, from which point the riders will progress to Newhaven, where a ferry will be taken to Dieppe. The ride will depart on Saturday 12th of July and should arrive at the Eiffel Tower by late afternoon on Monday 14th July in time for the Bastille Day celebrations. The return journey will be via Eurostar the following day.

Participants must pay a non-refundable £99 Registration Fee, then pledge to raise £1,000 in sponsorship funds.
