The newly-formed, three-person Animal Commençal Team is in search of a mechanic to accompany them to MTB events around the world. This is a part-time position and would suit a mechanic employed by a UK stockist of Commençal bikes. The mechanic gets extra ATG training and the shop gets the Atherton's for a day

Mechanic sought for top job

Commençal importer Madison is helping the Animal Commençal Team to find a mechanic.

This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic mechanic to travel the world with Dan, Gee and Rachel Atherton and increase his or her qualifications as ATG has offered to provide training to bring the successful candidate up to scratch on all the duties he/she will be asked to perform. The team will be riding Shimano-equipped Commençal frames with DT Swiss wheels and Fox suspension.

The position will entail 90 days work so the team are looking to tie in with a dealer for the successful candidate’s services, essentially sub-contracting the mechanic to the team.

"Given the spec of the bikes, this initiative will work best for a Commençal or Shimano Service Centre dealer, however is open all IBDs," said Madison’s marketing manager Matt Rushton.

"The mechanic can be already employed by a dealer or seeking work. Either way the dealer that ties in with the team will have a top quality mechanic trained on Shimano, DT Swiss, Fox and Commençal products as well as all the publicity and PR benefits of having the Animal Commençal team mechanic working in store.

"The team will also be available to attend an event to help promote the shop in question in addition to signed promotional material being available to the shop including a jersey, posters and postcards."

The ideal candidate will have a clean, valid UK driving license and needs to be a "good traveler who doesn’t mind sleeping in a different bed every few days."

He or she also needs to be able to cope with "the occasional Atherton family feud," said Rushton.
