MBR snaps up new editor

Matthew Hampton has been appointed as the new editor of Mountain Bike Rider (MBR), with effect from mid-February.

A journalist with more than ten years’ experience, Hampton started his career with the Daily Mail Group and spent the past two years freelancing for a broad range of media, including news and feature writing for mainstream consumer magazines, national newspapers, websites and the trade press. Regular outlets included Time Out and The Sun.

He has also written for the Daily Mail, The Daily Express, Metro, The Observer, The Dallas Morning News and The Washington Post.

Prior to freelancing, Hampton was features and supplements editor for three years at Travel Weekly, published by RBI, and he is also a keen and committed mountain biking enthusiast.

Keith Foster, publishing director of IPC’s cycling titles, said: “I’m delighted that Matthew has agreed to join us and look forward to working with him to drive MBR on to even greater success.”

Hampton added: “This is a great opportunity for me and I’m thrilled to be joining MBR and IPC at such a busy time. We’ve already talked through some exciting ideas and I’m just looking forward to getting to work and out on the trail with the best team in the mountain bike business.”
