Maxxis UK reports 87 per cent rise in road sales

Maxxis UK has reported an 87 per cent increase in sales of road tyres.

Over the course of 2017, the tyre manufacturer made considered efforts to harness its reputation in the MTB space to cross over into the UK’s road bike sector. Following the move, Maxxis recorded a huge 87 per cent growth in sales last year in the UK market, compared to 2016.

Maxxis UK’s managing director Derek McMartin commented on the findings: “Maxxis has an established presence and popularity in the UK’s MTB scene but over recent years we’ve set about preaching the Maxxis gospel to other disciplines, in a bid to expose more riders of all levels to the high quality, performance-focused tyres Maxxis offers.

“The road tyre market is getting more competitive and consumers demand excellence so it’s even greater testament to our tyres that we’ve succeeded in penetrating the road segment over a relatively short time frame. The results we’ve seen have motivated us to step things up a notch and invest in key strategies and partnerships to increase our market share even further and become synonymous with road cycling.”

In addition to its recently announced partnership with events promotor Velo29, Maxxis UK is continuing its sponsorship with the newly rebranded Canyon Eisberg team. Along with the new name, the team will also be introducing a fresh line-up headed by former world champion Andy Tennant.

Also representing the tyre brand for another year is the Maxxis 4 Racing team, introduced into the manufacturer’s sponsorship cohort last year. The team will be taking on the season, riding on Maxxis’ Tubeless Ready Padrone TR and Campione tyres.
