No, BikeBiz.com has not morphed into Hello! The sudden interest in Liz Hurley, the ‘bikini designer and organic farmer’ says her Twitter profile, is because (a) she’s tweeting the website of a classic British bike brand to her 342,000 followers and (b) she promises to get her boyfriend on a Pashley too. So? Her boyfriend is Shane Warne, the Oz cricketer who earlier this year ranted about his hatred for cyclists to his 899,000 Twitter followers.
At the weekend Hurley wrote:
"I borrowed a friend’s bike this weekend and went for a ride in the country with my son. First time since I was about 12. It was glorious. I want my own bike now….any recommendations? I want a sit-up-and-beg with a basket in front. Do they still exist?"
Her followers pointed her to Pashley and Pendleton bikes. She plumped for a Pashley.
"Now my Lady Bike is sorted out, any recommendations for @warne888? NB think gentle country rides & picnics not black lycra tights."
A follower recommended the Pashley Guv’nor as ‘the’ bike for "splendid cool chaps."
