Leeds University and Triathlon Centre react to Olympic wins

The University of Leeds has released a short statement following the success of the Team GB triathlon team.

All three athletes in the Team GB mens triathlon team trained at the facilities at the University, as have two of the three women’s team who are competing on the 20th.

Reacting to the Brownlee brothers’ triumph in the Olympic triathlon in Rio, Patrick Craig, Assistant Head of Sport at the University of Leeds said: “We’re delighted that the Brownlee brothers have won gold and silver at Rio. 

"On behalf of the whole Leeds Triathlon Centre and University team, we’d like to congratulate them on their amazing achievement. 

"Leeds has cemented its leadership role in triathlon training and sports science and we’re glad that the months of training in the Dales and time spent in our infamous ‘broiler’ have paid off with Olympic bullion.”
