Sosenka, a rider for the Acqua&Sapone team, was riding a Moser made from aluminium tubes.

Should Lance Armstrong ever take a crack at the Hour record – he was reported to be thinking about it last year – he would ride a carbon Trek.

Chris Boardman is currently commentating on the Tour de France for ITV2 in the UK. No doubt, he’ll mention Sosenka’s feat on tonight’s programme.
