Currently reserved for the off-road, Kool Stop predicts road disc emergence will see large uptake of heat dissipating pads

Kool Stop: ”Bristly disc pads will be big in the road market”

Speaking to BikeBiz at Interbike, Kool Stop has speculated that the bristly disc pads now within its own and Shimano’s range will really come into their own as the road disc market develops.

Tim Watson at Kool Stop said: "At present we do only have these pads for mountain biking applications, but the future of the concept is probably better suited to road and we are prototyping pads in preparation. The heat generated by road discs is much in excess of your typical off road descent, so it makes perfect sense to make use of this method of heat dissipation."

At present Kool Stop’s bristled brake pads are made for select brakes from Magura, Avid, Formula, SRAM and Shimano’s XTR, Zee and Saint brakes.
