"We have been looking for ways to promote Kona out of the bike industry, this is why we have supported Colin McRae and the Foggy Petronas Racing team and hence this game opportunity came about and with millions of copies being sold all around the world it was a great opportunity," said Russell Carty, Kona’s UK publicist and team manager.
In a championship centred game, participants take on a three-year contract to win a series of championships for the Ford Rallye Sport team.
The game features stage starts, stage checkpoint, end stage and service area sequences. The main championship game is a series of races across eight international rallies: Japan, Spain, USA, Sweden, Finland, Greece, Australia and the UK, offering tarmac, gravel, dirt, and rain-soaked road surfaces.
In this, the thrid version of the game, the graphics have been much improved, including raindrops exploding onto the windscreen, then streaking up the windscreen.
Unfortunately, there are no sequences of McRae, or his co-driver Nicky Grist, riding their Kona bikes.
