Brazing Technician

With a history spanning six decades, the Moulton Bicycle Company (‘MBC’) designs and manufactures low volume, high value bicycles. The iconic Moulton bicycle features small wheels and full suspension and has a loyal and passionate customer base with over 90% of production exported overseas. 

MBC is a small privately-owned friendly business based in the historic grounds of ‘The Hall’ in Bradford on Avon. Many of the staff have worked at the company for over 25 years. MBC is expanding and we are seeking an individual to work within our small dedicated team to hand-fabricate ‘spaceframe’ bicycles which are constructed from thin walled steel tubes. 

The premium aesthetics of our bike frames are a core part of our products and brand. Some of our most talented brazers had no prior brazing experience prior to joining the company and someone with a background in artistic or musical fields may be particularly suited to the role. In-house training will be given to individuals without prior brazing skills. 

Core responsibilities

• Preparation of materials required for fabrication of bicycle frames
• Brass and silver brazing of high value, low volume bicycle space frames

Essential skills

• Practical dexterity and methodically minded 
• Attention to artistic detail and desire to produce high quality products.
• Enjoys working as part of a team

Desirable skills

• Prior experience of brazing or welding, but not essential.
• An interest in bicycles and mobility
• Any experience of using machine tools (milling/turning) and general engineering

Salary: c£21,250-£24,250 commensurate with experience and based upon a 39 hour week.

The role is nominally full-time, but there is a degree of flexibility around working hours for the right person.
