We are recruiting for a new role of Bike Mechanic/Instructor to work on our Cycling Project alongside our small team of 11 staff (full and part time) and 9 volunteers.  We currently have a part time Velotech Gold qualified bike mechanic who also works as an Instructor on our activity sessions.  This new role will focus on the repair and maintenance of 2 wheel and adapted bikes (new and donated) and support cycle lessons for local children and adults along with basic bike maintenance sessions.

Our ideal candidate would have extensive experience and be qualified to Cytech Level 2, Velotech Gold or equivalent standard – but for the right person, we could support you achieving the required qualification.  We are advertising as full time position but as this is a new role, we can consider applicants who wish to work part time.  If you’d like to chat about the vacancy, just drop us a line at Sine@hdsf.co.uk

Herts Disability Sports Foundation (HDSF) is a relatively small charity working to support adults and children in Hertfordshire with physical and/or learning disabilities to participate in recreational sporting activities.  We work with a diverse range of partners including Day Services, special schools and community groups to provide a variety of sports/physical activities.

We are a very small team but we think what we have makes us special; a strong team ethos, a can do attitude, shared respect and understanding for our participants and their families/carers and high expectations of ourselves and others.  We have very low staff turnover and proactively look to support staff and volunteer development through coaching, mentoring and external training.  Our working week is usually Monday to Friday with 25 days paid holiday (plus bank holidays) and a pension scheme.  Uniform and all equipment is provided.  For more information on our work please visit www.HDSF.co.uk

Application Process

Please send your CV by email to sine@hdsf.co.uk, or complete and email the application form here.  The closing date for applications is midday on Thursday 28th September.  Interviews will be held on Wednesday 4th October 2023.

As part of our Safeguarding procedures, the successful candidate will be required to supply references and provide necessary documentation to receive Enhanced DBS clearance.  HDSF is actively working towards certification as a Disability Confident Employer.
