James Long appointed MD of Immediate Media sport portfolio

Immediate Media – a leading special interest content and platform company – today announced the appointment of James Long as the new MD for its sport portfolio.

Long takes charge of the cycling network following the departure of David Maher Roberts, who is leaving the company to take a role as global MD of content marketing company Dialect Inc.

Immediate’s portfolio of sport brands reaches over 8.5 million on and off road cyclists every month. Brands include BikeRadar, Cyclingnews, Cycling Plus & Mountain Biking UK.

Immediate Group MD Julie Harris said: “David has been instrumental in driving the sport team forward over the last two years, cementing our pre-eminence in the Cycling sector. Our brands are out-performing the market and our teams are recognised as the best in the business.

“James comes to the portfolio at a really exciting time. He has a strong and proven track record of successful revenue diversification, M&A and new product development across a 15 year career in brand and product management. James will be working closely with publishing director Dave Clutterbuck and publisher Alison Worthington to chart the growth-path for the group through 2017 and beyond.”

Long concluded: “This is a portfolio of world-class quality. I’m incredibly excited to start working with the teams to offer them strategic direction and support as we continue to build on the power of our millions of passionate and engaged cycling consumers.”
