Future’s forthcoming bike bonanza teams up with more industry partners

Islabikes, JD Cycles and Dahon head to BikeRadar Live

More big firms from the bicycle trade have signed up to BikeRadar Live, Future’s huge mass-participation cycling event.

The festival, which is taking place on the weekend of May 30th-31st 2009, is taking place in Donington Park, taking in all aspects of cycling.

At the event Islabikes will team up with cycle training firm CycleActive to run a skills school. Children will be able to try some of the latest Islabikes during the 20-minutes training sessions.

“The Islabikes Children’s Skills School will give lots of kids the opportunity to receive quality tuition – it’s amazing what an hour with an expert can do for kids’ riding ability,” said Islabikes’ designer and owner Isla Rowntree.

“The chance to borrow an Islabike will show them what a difference a decent bike can make too. We’re thrilled to be involved with BikeRadar Live – it promises to be a bumper weekend celebrating cycling.”

JD Cycles will bring a ‘Discover the World of Tandeming’ experience to the event, where festival goers will get the opportunity to try out models from Dawes, Ventana, Santana and more in half-hour sessions.

Meanwhile Dahon will discover which folding bike is the quickest in the Dahon Folding Bike Championship – a four-lap race where cyclists will put their racing and folding skills to the test. A shorter race will also be available for less experienced cyclists.

BikeRadar Live show organiser Grant Norris enthused: “These three companies will really add an extra dimension to BikeRadar Live, not only with the cycling skills school for children, but also encompassing the ever-growing number of people commuting on folding bikes and families taking to the road on tandems.

“We’re delighted with the Islabikes Skills School, as encouraging children to ride better, smoother, safer and with greater confidence is really key to BikeRadar Live, as we equip the cyclists of the future with the skills that they need. We’re really excited to have signed up Islabikes, JD Cycles and Dahon, and look forward to seeing everyone getting involved.”
