Cyc-lok is a new pay-to-use modular cycle locker system from an Irish start-up company.
The 12-unit Cyc-lok allows users to access a secure unit via RFID cards or through a smartohone app with a designated pin code.
Stephen Murphy, MD of Cyc-Lok said: "We’ve undertaken extensive research and development to really understand the needs of cyclists, and the limitations of existing systems on the market.”
He said one of the chief limitations with existing bike lockers is that users are limited to key holders and it can be difficult to find an available locker. The Cyc-lok app allows cyclists to monitor locker availability at their preferred location. They can then pay online using a debit or credit card and are provided with a secure PIN code to access the locker.
“We wanted to design a unit that would look beautiful in the city streetscape," added Murphy. "The sleek and versatile design of the modular wedges means the unit can be manipulated to fit into an allocated space."
Sales director Louise Murphy said: “Our payment software allows for payment using RFID cards, this makes the system compatible with existing cashless payment systems," adding "because Cyc-lok is a multi-user system, it delivers uncapped revenue potential for operators with minimum maintenance requirements."
