Last year, 4000 trade visitors flocked to Interbike's desert-based try-out day. The Outdoor Demo is now so successful at getting bums on new saddles that a second day has been added.

Interbike’s try-out event expands

BikeBiz.co.uk loves The Outdoor Demo day. Here’s the deal: get across to the free shuttle buses at 7am (they’re located behind the Sands Convention Center in Las Vegas) and get ferried out to the desert.

Then ride all the new bikes you want, for hours on end. MTBs. Cruisers. Recumbents. Road-bikes. Wacky bikes.

There’s dirt. There’s asphalt. There’s lots of bikes.

The Outdoor Demo is the best part of Interbike. Period.

And for 2003, the organisers are promising a bigger and better event at the new venue at Bootleg Canyon, Boulder City, Nevada.

The decision to add the extra day is a result of "overwhelming industry participation," said show director, Lance Camisasca.

The Outdoor Demo will be held Friday 10th October through to Saturday 11th.

"In order to meet the demand for more new product testing and to provide better service to exhibitors and attending retailers, it was time to extend the schedule of the OutDoor Demo," said Camisasca.

"Many retailers and exhibitors expressed interest in an expanded event and with all of the resources of Boulder City at our fingertips, it allows us to support a two-day event."

The OutDoor Demo, which has typically been held for only one day prior to the opening of the Las Vegas expo, provides retailers and media a chance to test the latest in bikes and cycling equipment before hitting the show floor the following day.

Last year’s OutDoor Demo drew a record 4000 attendees.

"Making the switch to two days is a great decision," said Andrew Herrick of

Crank Bros.

"As suppliers, we have to do whatever we can to give the IBD the opportunity to educate themselves on current products and trends. The two-day event will help achieve this."

Exhibitors have the option of participating for one or two days, however, one-day exhibit space is offered on Saturday only.

Buses will shuttle attendees to and from the Sands Convention Center every 30 minutes and will be available both days of the OutDoor Demo.
