Industry veteran Martin Murray joins Greenover Sports

Greenover Sports has announced that industry veteran Martin Murray has joined them as director of bicycles.

Murray has spent his entire working career in the bike trade after a successful career as a professional BMX and mountain bike racer. He spent 15 years with Fisher Outdoor Leisure, where for the last seven years he has acted as head of sales and a member of the senior management team.

Murray commented: “I’ve been riding with the guys at Greenover for some years now and through ongoing talks with Dan, it became clear that I was ready for a change from the corporate side of the bike trade and ready for something different.

“It’s a relaxed, fun place to work in with a small but focussed team of like-minded people and I’ve been fortunate enough to join at a time when Rocky Mountain is genuinely on fire and Thompson bikes are just beginning to scratch the surface. We’re currently in the process of launching a new b2b website, a brand-new Thompson bikes website which will benefit our dealers immensely, and we’re also are in the final stages of launching the new 2018 Rocky Mountain range, so there’s plenty going on.”

Greenover owner Dan Maker added: “We are very excited to have Martin join us and take control of our growth plans within the bike segment of the business. Having known and ridden with Martin for several years and I have watched with interest as his career developed into the cycle industry.

“He brings enormous experience, a new drive and great humility to the business going forward. He is a great asset to the business, a great partner and friend. We know that the industry is a tough market place with many challenges for brands, distributors and dealers alike but I am convinced that Martin with his experience and drive will navigate a successful path for the business and I very much look forward to the future and him being a big part of it.”
