Twitter post leads to 'around 300' Glaswegians joining ride

Impromptu Armstrong ride attracts ‘about 300’

A Twitter post by racing legend Lance Armstrong has sparked a mass bike ride, which set off from a Glasgow hotel earlier today.

Around 300 people are said to have gathered at the Ashtree House Hotel in Glasgow after Armstong Twittered:

"Hey Glasgow, Scotland! I’m coming your way tomorrow. Who wants to go for a bike ride?"

Following posting details of the ride, Armstrong emerged to find the cycle fans and Scottish cycle legend, Greame Obree among the bunch.

Since the ride’s end, Armstrong has Twittered: "Thanks to everyone who turned up to ride in Paisley! I figured we’d have a nice ride for a dozen or so. But 100’s came. Haha! Awesome!"
