Attendance expected to top 12,000 this year, Schwalbe Track Bike Criterium to debut plus more updates for 2013

IG London Nocturne gets grandstand finish and teams up with Time Out

FACE Partnership, the organiser behind the increasingly popular IG London Nocturne, is expecting a big crowd this year and will be introducing a grandstand seating area to meet demand.

Over 12,000 fans attended last year’s event and this year highlights will be available on Channel 4 and 4oD.

Adjacent to the start/finish line, the grandstand will provide clear views of the live action and the giant video screen, all without having to jostle for position. Tickets to the grandstand will include a complementary event programme and three drinks tokens to redeem at the grandstand bar.

FACE has also signed a deal to work with Time Out to promote the Smithfield Market race this year, riding on Saturday June 8th.

"Time Out is a perfect fit for the IG London Nocturne," said FACE Partnership MD James Pope. "Time Out is all about cool, fun events and will really help to boost awareness of this iconic festival of cycling."

Carolyn Sims, group marketing director of Time Out said: "Getting out and about in great cities to discover the best things to do and see is one of the key pillars of Time Out’s mission across the globe, and supporting the IG London Nocturne highlights our desire to promote new things to experience as well as encourage a healthier way to get about the capital."

New races for 2013 include the Schwalbe Track Bike Criterium, a fixed gear race (with no brakes) that debuted at the London Bike Show in January. The London Cycling Campaign ‘Love London, Go Dutch’ race is another new addition.

The Norglide Elite Criterium and the Elite Women’s Criterium will top the bill on June 8th, following Nocturne favourites like the IG City Criterium, the Brooks Penny Farthing Race and the Folding Bike Race. And there will be food stalls, bars, bike products, merchandise and special offers with local bars and restaurants to keep the crowd entertained.

Rouleur Magazine will continue in 2013 as the IG London Nocturne’s official cycling media partner, producing the event programme, which will be sold from pubs and restaurants around the circuit.
