The Team Sky Training Room is a website powered with data supplied by Map My Tracks, linked to OutFront, the iPhone sports app. Sky riders who choose to share their profile and their training rides and their real-time location can be followed online.
‘Team Talk’ tweets are made on Twitter. Map My Tracks is one of the official suppliers to the Sky team.
Map My Tracks is produced by Tinderhouse of Kent, who also created the Bike Hub satnav app.
Map My Tracks provides a range of real-time telemetry solutions for sports events, teams and fitness enthusiasts.
OutFront turns an iPhone into a GPS computer that tracks speed, pace, calories burned, duration, elevation gain/loss and integrates with the Map My Tracks website so users can share outdoor activities for friends to follow.
Team Sky riders use OutFront to track their rides which are then synced online to their profiles on mapmytracks.com. The iPhone application also lets the riders broadcast live data for fans follow in real-time if they wish. Each rider has their own profile on Map My Tracks that logs the training sessions they post on Map My Tracks. Fans can follow each rider’s progress and, just like Facebook or Twitter, post comments on each rider’s activity.
But no, Bradley Wiggins is not taking part. Click on his profile and you get the message "Sorry, BradleyWiggins is not sharing activities at the moment."
