Starting on Sunday, the International Cycle Convention is, according to Jane Evans the show organiser, “a complete sell out.” The ACT, however, have reservations about next year’s date

Harrogate trade show causes waves

The directors of the Association of Cycle Traders have issued a joint statement voicing their concern that the Bicycle Association has decided to stage their 2002 show so close to the dates for the independently-run trade show organised by David Hyde.

“[The] ACT board deplores the fact that the [two trade shows] are scheduled to be within eight weeks of each other…in 2002. We believe it is common sense to have one in early spring, the second later in the year.”

The dates for the BA’s 2002 show, however, seems to be set in stone. Contrary to concerns expressed on the bikebiz.co.uk bulletin board, the Monday straddling the ICC 2002 dates (26-28th May) is not a Bank Holiday. Printed diaries have the 27th of May as a Bank Holiday but the government moved this holiday to Tuesday 4th June in recognition of the Queen’s Golden Jubilee.
