423 stores across the nation will be giving kids and parents another reason to step through the doors

Halfords to run Easter bike maintenance workshops for kids

Over the Easter holidays, Halfords is cleverly giving kids the opportunity to learn the basics of bike maintenance free of charge.

Taking place each Wednesday over Easter, the workhops will start at 10am, available at 423 Halfords stores.

Each hour-long workshop will aim to teach 8-10 year olds the rudiments of looking after their bike, from a tutorial and demonstration on how to fix punctures and re-attaching a bike chain to how to adjust both handle bars and the saddle height. There will also be a drawing competition with a chance to win a bike worth up £250.

Halfords CSR manager, Emma Thomas said: "Last year’s Olympic and Tour De France successes introduced a whole new generation to cycling. We are keen to build on that. The bike workshops are aimed to be fun and interactive. They provide a great starting point for kids and even parents to go back home and try out what they have learned together on their own bikes."

BikeBiz doesn’t own a bike shop, but if we did we’d probably be copying that idea.
