Halfords reports strong Christmas bike sales

Halfords has released sales figures for its third quarter to 13th January – in that period cycle sales rose by 7.4 percent, and 5.5 percent in the 41-weeks of the financial year to date. The company as a whole reported a sales lift of 11.4 percent.

“In cycling, [there was] sales growth in both bikes and [parts & accessories] helped by new ranges,” says the company statement, adding that “Cycle Republic and Tredz continued to grow strongly.” Halfords “does not expect to undertake further acquisitions in the near future.”

Motor accessories grew by 8.4 percent.

CEO Jill McDonald said: “I am very pleased with the strong sales performance across our business in the important third quarter of the year.”

Halfords has 460 stores and employs 11,000 staff.
