Link up with Somerset bike shop sees creation of herbal remedies

Great Elm Physick Garden launches organic body care range for cyclists

Great Elm Physick Garden has linked with Somerset bike retailer Live2Ride to create a series of body care products for cyclists.

Available both online and through interested trade accounts, the range spans deep heat style creams, through chamois salve, bath salts and massage oils.

Charles Nevin of Great Elm said: “Given how green and environmentally aware cyclists are, we were amazed at the lack out there of organic natural products, free of fillers and chemicals, to ease and aid pedal power. We’d back the healing and soothing abilities of our stuff against anything – and it definitely smells sweeter!"

The products are as follows:

Deep Down Heat, a warming wax – comes on strong and keeps it up until the muscles are ready to start work. A formidable mix of hot ginger and chilli in herb-infused sunflower seed oil, along with pain-absorbers like galbanum and clove, it’s also equally excellent for warming down afterwards.

S.O.S. Chamois Salve – blended from chickweed, chamomile and marigold in skin-friendly sunflower and beeswax, these herbs are dedicated to easing the sores, irritations and abrasions.

Easing Bath Salts – sink into that bath and let this cleverly crafted concoction of wintergreen, ginger, rosemary and lavender work its muscle magic on those punished limbs.

Deep Massage Oil – when muscles and bones have been stressed and tortured, a good deep tissue massage is the answer. This oil has a set of super-effective pain-easers which work to soothe and heal.
