New US publisher Casagrande Press is offering a $500 first prize in a search for the world's best photographs of bicycle crashes. The company's first book was an anthology of surf misadventures.

"Do you have a wild shot of a bicycle crash, painful collision, or someone spilling over the handle bars of bicycle?" asks editor Paul Diamond.

The first prize winner will receive $500. The winning image will be used on the cover for a book to be released in May 2007 entitled Cycling’s Greatest Misadventures. Ten runner-ups will receive $50 as well as publication of their images in the book.

Cycling’s Greatest Misadventures will feature reader-submitted mishap text and Diamond is seeking non-fiction stories tabout "disasters, deaths, comical pranks, crashes, bad judgment calls, misfortune, contest meltdowns, strange injuries, loss of wit, critical conditions, and bike trips gone wrong

Writers will be paid $100 per story upon publication, if their story is selected for publication. Writers will retain copyright and ownership of published stories.
