British Cycling wants to capitalise on Team GB's success at the Olympic velodrome by getting clubs to stage 'kids welcome' events over the weekend of 4th and 5th September. Free gifts for kids, and support from British Cycling, will be provided.

Go for Gold, kids

British Cycling is planning a programme of Go-Ride activities based at club facilities with the aim of attracting new riders into our network of Go-Ride clubs. The events are to be called ‘Go for Gold’.

British Cycling clubs around the country will be invited toput on a programme of events based on the major Olympic disciplines over the weekend of 4th and 5th September.

"This will be a great opportunity for clubs to open their doors to the community, attract new riders and capitalise on the media profile of cycling in the week after the Games," said Phillip Ingham, British Cycling’s press officer.

"With the interest and enthusiasm generated by the Olympics, clubs will provide children with fun activities that link directly with what they have seen on TV and hopefully find some future champions."

Clubs will receive resources and support from British Cycling.
