David Bernstein of the Fredcast podcast has created a round-table podcast, roping in bike-based podcasters from USA, Canada, the UK and Japan. The current edition has a discussion of the trends spotted at Eurobike as well as musings on just how many 29ers will be released at Interbike.

Global bike-based podcasters chew the fat in new show

The Eurobike discussion involved a lively debate on whether lightweight bikes and kit are worth the money, referencing Castelli’s ultra-lightweight jersey and the 13lb Scott Addict road bike seen in this YouTube video.

The hour-long roundtable podcast is recorded and cut for broadcast by David Bernstein. His Fredcast programme is one of the top cycling podcasts in the US. The Spokesmen podcast is only two editions old but is already one of the most downloaded cycle-related podcasts in the world.

Bernstein records the roundtable discussion via a Skype conference call link-up. The second episode featured Larry Barker from Japan-based Crankk.com, Tim Grahl from the Crooked Cog blog networks, Jeremy Vaught from Triathlon Radio Podcast and Bike Biz editor Carlton Reid of the Cycling News and Views podcast (iTunes link here).

Grahl is promising to upload up to 15 podcasts a day from the floor of Interbike Las Vegas.

The Spokesmen podcast can be accessed from this website as a download or via subscribe-for-free RSS links. Bernstein is planning on roping in other bike podcasters for future editions of the roundtable podcast.
