Fully Charged hires head of operations in line with increased growth

Fully Charged is set to more than double in size as sales increase rapidly.

The London Bridge-based shop has extended and refurbished the 1,500 sq ft basement below its existing 1,000 sq ft showroom. The store holds one of the widest range of premium electric bikes in the UK, with demo bikes available to test ride out of it’s Bermondsey Street location.

The downstairs also hosts an open plan workshop where the stores three mechanics operate in view of customers and a video content generation area, where the team can create media for their website and social platforms. Fully Charged, which also operates a successful web sales arm, is set to see turnover double again this year.

This continued growth has led to the appointment this week of Dan Parsons, who joins Fully Charged as head of operations having previously been commercial manager at Karbon Kinetics, manufacturer of Gocycle. Parsons will ensure current high demand is met, whilst developing the business to increase its presence online and in store.

Mr Jaconelli said: “If we weren’t already, we are now definitely the UK’s biggest e-bike store. We are responding to demand and what we anticipate over the coming months and years. In the Netherlands one in three bikes sold is an e-bike and in mainland Europe e-Bikes account for 50 per cent of bike imports. In the UK it is just one per cent, so you get an idea of how much room there is for expansion. E-bikes are driving the expansion in cycle sales while traditional sales remain fairly static.”

Mr Jaconelli added that the appointment of Dan Parsons, a founding employee at Gocycle, was crucial to Fully Charged’s development: “We are excited to welcome Dan to the team. He brings with him nine years of industry experience and unrivalled knowledge of the Gocycle, one of our best sellers, allowing us to offer our customers levels of support not offered by any other retailer. He’s helped to establish Gocycle as one of the leading brands around the world and I’m confident he will be able to help Fully Charged do the same.”

Parson concluded: “Having been a supplier to Fully Charged since the company’s inception, I’ve enjoyed watching Ben and his team grow to establish themselves as one of the leading electric bike retailers in the UK. Recognising the potential of Fully Charged and with the undeniable growing trend in electric bikes in the UK, it’s a hugely exciting time to be involved in this fast-moving industry and I look forward to working with Ben to expand the reach of the business.”
