It’s expected that 500 delegates will be the CycleCity Leeds cycle advocacy conference on 1-2 May. The final sessions on the second day will be accessible without paying.
The CycleCity conference will be opened by Minister for Roads (and Cycling) Robert Goodwill MP. This is the second annual staging of the conference and free entry to the end-of-conference sessions starts at 3.30pm on 2nd May.
The two-day conference will be held in Leeds Town Hall and is billed as a "meeting point for all practitioners charged with transforming cycle use in UK cities." As well as the expo there will also be a public cycling exhibition in Victoria Square.
Cycle City was staged in Birmingham last year and hosted the Get Britain Cycling launch. It is organised by Landor Links, publisher of a number of public transport trade magazines, including "Get Britain Cycling", the third issue of which has just been published.
The issue includes an update on plans to build a Cycle Superhighway from Bradford to Leeds, as well as news of projects being drawn up by the Cycle City Ambition Grant winners. Eight cities and four National Parks were awarded a total of £94m, which they plan to spend on bike-friendly infrastructure over the coming year.
