Stephen Murray's Foundation to be boosted by the country-long ride later this month

Fisher staffers to ride LEJOG for Stay Strong

On August 16th, a team of Fisher Outdoor Leisure staff are riding from Lands-End to John O’Groats in aid of the Stay Strong Foundation.

The Foundation is close to the heart of team member Martin Murray, head of IBD sales at Fisher, whose brother Stephen it supports. As many will already know, Stephen Murray was paralysed in a BMX injury six years ago and the fund was set up to support him with the huge bills that are associated with his life altering injury. Each year the Murray family have to raise $100,000 to pay bills and keep Murray healthy and in rehab.

Following an after dinner speech by Murray’s mum at Fisher Expo this year, Fisher sales rep John Oakes was inspired to help raise money for the Foundation by riding LEJOG. Despite Martin Murray not being a roadie (until recently), he along with James Leader, Blair Whiteside and James Atkins, decided to join him.

Fisher’s head of brand management Nikki Hawyes said: ‘‘Fisher has supported Stay Strong through various charity auctions and bike rides over the years so it was a no brainer to support the guys with custom Eastway R1 bikes and Santini Eastway jerseys in the Stay Strong colours.’’

With one week to go money can be donated via this PayPal link on the Stay Strong website.

In addition there is a limited run of a jersey – priced at £44.99 – with all proceeds going to the Stay Strong Foundation, available via Fisher telesales account managers.
